Who am I without these thoughts?

August 19th, 2009 .

Remain in maître, learn to stay in complete acceptance of yourself until you directly experience a compassionate wisdom emanating from your center, to your very core. My tree of life giving fruit, you are the bearer of these mental fruits labeled as thoughts. Make an effort to quickly burst the bubble that stems from my ego, a defensive, self cherishing Gollem with an unquenchable appetite for desirable experiences. Heart practice on a daily basis helps in cultivation of compassionate wisdom. Seeing from someone else’s perspective and POV (point of view), and staying in that person’s image for a few meditative breaths. The body has cellular memory of every pain it has ever experience, the cells used this pain to find a host body to occupy. The physical body is the consciousness contained within a cell that becomes the seed and source of my previous pain and ignorance. These latent compulsions arise when the conditions are ripe. We must cultivate the practice by not reinforcing our negative emotions through escape, staying with your breath and not breaking meditative stabilization. To see reality as thoughts that have been conditioned to create our false identification with self, the I.

Refresh and Restart

June 25th, 2009 .

Just like a personal computer, your mind needs to refresh and restart. The problem is we have so many buttons and codes imprinted in our brain, including the physical and light body that it is hard to be aware of the sequence of emotional triggers that may cause an emotional drain. The wires and connection are installed, learned, by our environment. By changing the environment we live in mentally and spiritually, I guess it does not matter if you live in a war zone. We may be able deal with our present situation with where we live inside our head and spirit. After all, isn’t the concept of belief and faith an intangible concept. Yet some individuals have belief and faith so deeply rooted in their psyche that they can relocate from their present environment. Not by escaping to somewhere else, by refreshing and restarting your frame of mind and maybe changing locations within dimensional space time sequences.

Now

June 15th, 2009 .

What does it mean to be free from thought? Is it the same as being in the moment. Living for today can be a chore when our thoughts only wander from past to future. I cannot understand why the human brain never stops thinking. What drives the brain to continue this incessant chatter and noise? Sometimes I think thoughts hold up the illusion we create for ourselves. The processing never ends, even in our sleep, thoughts continue in our dreams. The mind may sometimes be difficult to manuever but with practice, the mind can be cultivated to focus on one thing, and one thought only. Although this excercise is easier said than done, it does not necessarily take a long time to be focused on a single object. I sometimes play a game telling myself that if I did not understand language or know my ABCs what would my senses be paying attention to?  The now I suppose. No labeling, no naming or comparing, just being.

what is the present moment?

June 10th, 2009 .

does anyone really understand the present moment? do people stay here and just be still? this moment is always moving the awareness of this movement is not based in time or motion. So what is it? I sure don’t want to experience a dangerous situation like being chased by a cobra. This event will definitely put you in a very heightened state of awareness because your life depends on it. Why don’t we have this same awareness in everyday life? Is it necessary? It might break up the repetitive chatter of thought for a bit and then thought comes back to pull you into the past or the future. So find time every day to be present, do not let repetitive thought patterns get in the way of this laser sighted focus. Then maybe we will discover this very moment.

Yoga Therapy

June 1st, 2009 .

Yoga therapy is the new buzz word in the yoga community, but what does this really mean to the people who are not aware? There is an influx of wonderful qualified healers that may fill the gap between the doctor, psychiatrist, and physical therapist. Yoga therapy is a burgeoning healing art and science within the great tradition of yoga in union with western medicine and anatomy knowledge. It is meant to focus on the specific needs of people who may not be able to go to a regular yoga class. The sessions are one on one so that a physical, emotional, and dietary assessment can be made to fit a treatment plan for the individual in need of this type of remedy. The most important thing to remember with the healing process is it is not a quick fix. Healing in the vernacular of the yoga therapist is about healing the whole person, not just fixing a chronic lower back pain or neck injury. The relationship between the client and the therapist has to be established so that an honest dialog can be made to get a clear picture of the problem at hand. This type of exchange may not happen at the doctor’s or physical therapist’s office. Yoga therapy may be used as a complimentary treatment program after talking to your local health professional.

Past, Present, & Future Selves

May 29th, 2009 .

Reconstructing our holographic memory of self by recalling past experiences can be entered in a real or mental computer program that may give us a graph of the dates and events in our life we made the best and worst choices. Hypothetically speaking, assuming that all the relevant data collected is chronologically accurate can be placed in a database that can be easily accessible in a calendar in your phone or computer which can recall almost everything you did and experienced for every day in your past and also highlight your mental and physical activities.

How does this information determine your Present self? To further elaborate, this information creates a virtual model of our state of mind, physical health and current life plans which may simultaneously exist in parallel universes and all our choices and decisions can affect our Past, Present and Future selves. Based on the decisions made in the sequence of events of our lives and with the help of a virtual past life database calendar, our future choices and decisions can be made to be able to directly impact our future self and indirectly affect the present and future of the people we love.

Movement is Medicine II

May 13th, 2009 .

Exploration of the different body parts can be an interesting game. If no one ever told you the name of your eye, what would you call it? Probably something related to how you view the world, especially objects in motion. If no one gave you a name for your lungs would you think that you only breathed out your nose and mouth? You’re probably asking what this has to do with movement? Exploration is a sensory experience, by taking the time to observe the moving parts of your body without naming, just simply being very present and aware of simple movement, we can understand the mechanics of thought. the fact that your brain associates sensations like pain with individual body parts shows that you have to name something to make an observation. the minute the observation is made the sensation changes immediately, observe this feeling from within. Watch it like you would watch your favorite movie or sports event. Why shouldn’t inner space be as fascinating if not more interesting than the outer world? Energy sensations can be harnessed and cultivated to heal the body. Low energy sensations can deplete the immune system if a person does not get enough sleep. The movement I am speaking about is the mind body dialogue. Understanding different cellular intelligence opens a whole world of new possibilities. Start learning the language of your cells.

Movement is Medicine

May 7th, 2009 .

Tuning in to the vibration of the cells of your body can be a fascinating and revealing exploration. By making time to have daily dates with your self; a person can learn so much about how the human body functions. Eating food is one way of determining how an external substance affects your system. If you pay very close attention to what your brain is telling you 5 to 20 minutes after digesting your meal. A person can immediately feel whether the food he or she ate was beneficial to your state of mind or make you crash and burn on the coach. Another way is to do gentle stretching like yoga or just plain raising your hands or feet in the air. By listening to the body’s immediate subtle responses, theoretically a person can recognize the beneficial release of oxygen to the parts of their anatomy that have been constricted from sitting all day looking at a monitor or television. Movement is medicine, oxygen rich blood make for healthy cells. Movement can replace most prescribed medications and it’s free. movement-as-medicine

The Weight of emotions

April 17th, 2009 .

Please consider how much each emotion weighs on your physical body. How much does anger weight for example. Most of the decisions we make in life are emotionally based. Emotions are the key to our humanity. No decision can be made without the consequense of an an emotional toll on the physical nervous system. Consider that fear, anxiety, relief, pleasure, pain, sadness, joy, etcetera are intangible to the forces of gravity. Yet if you consider the amount of pressure created by a fear based decision in comparison to an altruistic act of kindness, a measurement can be made.  Emotions has an invisible pull on our psyche and our physical and spiritual body.  Why do emotions show up as symptoms of pain, discomfort or disease?

Self Correcting Organisms

March 20th, 2009 .

protoctists_nyamnhAs intelligent beings it is easy to blame our environment for our posture and bad habits. The food we eat, the traffic on the freeway, our noisy neighbors, the state of the economy and a million more reasons to complain about something. Our brain has an incredible capacity to change, to learn new skills and the ability to heal itself. The bad habits we developed can be corrected and unlearned by incrementally reinforcing positive habits during our lifetime. Humans are highly self intelligent but our brains are easily tricked and numbed by a barrage of stimuli. Our failure or ignorance to accurately perceive the misuse of our physical body leads to dis-ease and sometimes painful consequences. It is not normal to live with stress, migraines or back pain. Don’t just put up with it and expect to relieve the pain with a daily dose of medication. The fact that we make mistakes is inevitable, but we have to use our body awareness to self correct and must have a deep inner desire to heal.
By cultivating a daily attitude of healing the mind and body, the brain will soon start to auto-correct itself. Try to develop a daily relationship with your senses, take time to do yoga, walk in nature, swim, meditate, not because its relaxing, see these daily activities as an exercise in learning about how your body works. Cultivate what feels natural and what intuitively feels good to you, there is no one system. Keep a diary or post-it notes of the things that made you feel energized and the things that bring you down, date it and review weekly. Your intuitive intelligence with the proper motivation to heal is your best guide. And of course get advice from your doctor, dietitian, physical therapist or Google a credible site with healthy advice.
